ipiranga Museum

For most people, thinking about the Independence of Brazil means imagining the cry of D. Pedro I, on the banks of the Ipiranga stream. But did you know that our history is marked by several events that were fundamental to independence? To bring these facts to light, the Museu do Ipiranga presents the exhibition “Memories of Independence”. The exhibition focuses on memories of “other independences”, related to separation movements that took place in the Northeast and Rio Grande do Sul during the 19th century. It also addresses various practices to commemorate the creation of the Brazilian state, carried out since the 1820s, in different cities such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador, until its bicentennial in 2022. The exhibition “Memories of Independence” inaugurates the Museum's new space for temporary exhibitions, with 900 m2, air conditioning and wide accessibility.

Distance: 12 km

Ticket: Free tickets, with the voluntary donation of 1 kg of food.
